LEGO Super Mario Sets Are Back in Stock | IGN

LEGO has a way of selling out of its most popular sets. That happened pretty quickly with many of the LEGO Super Mario sets, which let you build playable Mario levels. Thankfully, Amazon has now fully re-stocked its selection. First there’s the Starter Set, which you need to have in order to use the heap of expansions that are also available. Then there’s a handful of Power-Up Packs to give Mario new looks and special abilities, and even blind bag character packs. Friends, it’s a lot.

If you’re interested in building LEGO Mario levels, the first thing you need to pick up is the Starter Set. That’s the only one that comes with the main man himself. And without Mario, you won’t have much fun with the expansions. You can also check out the LEGO Super Mario app that accompanies these sets.

In addition to the Starter Set, you’ll find a mountain of expansions that come in an array of price points and build complexity. At the pricy/complex end of the spectrum is Bowser’s Castle, which comes with buildable Bowser, Dry Bones, Boo, and Lava Bubble figures. It also features challenges involving shaking platforms and a Time Block.

Those who don’t want to drop an extra hundred bucks can pick up one of the more modestly priced expansions, like Whomp’s Lava Trouble. It comes with Whomp and lava bubble figures and a sliding platform for Mario to balance on.

And if you’d like to see what we thought of it, check out our LEGO Super Mario hands-on look. Now go out there and start building.
