Netflix Geeked Week Day 3: The Biggest Announcements | IGN

We’re halfway through Netflix’s Geeked Week, and the biggest news out of Wednesday’s showcase was all centered on Stranger Things.

Cast announcements, a new podcast, and footage from a drive-in experience that fans may not have been able to check out in the pandemic all appeared on the show. (More details on that in a second.) It wasn’t all Stranger Things, though. Updates on Fear Street, Gunpowder Milkshake, and an adorable script read from the cast of Lucifer were some of the other highlights.

For a full rundown of the biggest and best announcements from the show, continue reading below. IGN will be covering Netflix Geeked for the rest of the week, culminating in a big gaming-focused stream on Friday. Mark that down, Witcher fans.

Stranger Things adds four new cast members: The fourth season of Stranger Things is still in production, but the Duffer Brothers stopped by Netflix Geeked Week to tease four new characters joining the show. Their names, alongside the actors playing them, and a description of their characters, include:

  • Amybeth McNulty, best known for her work in Anne with an E please Vickie, “a cool, fast talking band nerd who catches the eye of one of our beloved heroes,” according to Netflix.

  • Myles Truitt plays Patrick, “a Hawkins basketball star who has friends, talent, and a good life…until shocking events send his life spiraling out of control.”

  • Regina Ting Chen plays Ms. Kelly, “a popular guidance counselor who cares deeply for her students — especially those struggling the most.”

  • Finally, Grace Van Dien will play Chrissy, “Hawkins’ High lead cheerleader and the most popular girl in school. But beneath the seemingly perfect surface lies a dark secret.”

Stranger Things scripted podcast coming soon: A six-episode scripted Stranger Things podcast is all about Robyn Buckley, and acts as a prequel to the series. Netflix shared a clip from the podcast today, which you can listen to below.

Watch the Stranger Things drive-in experience without leaving your home: Do you like live performance? Do you love Stranger Things? Do you love things that are just slightly cringe-inducing? Check out this video capturing what the Stranger Things interactive drive-thru experience was like.

Gunpowder Milkshake clip: One of my most anticipated movies is Gunpowder Milkshake. It stars Karen Gillan as a John Wick-type assassin teaming up with her mom, played by Lena Headey, to save a kid. It also stars Angela Bassett, Michele Yeoh, and Carla Guigina. I mean, c’mon! Netflix released a new clip from the movie today that definitely has some of the calmer John Wick vibes. Before all hell breaks loose.

Fear Street movie trilogy trailer: I was more of a Christopher Pike fan growing up, but R.L. Stine’s Fear Street remains some of my favorite teen horror novels. The first trailer for Netflix’s movie trilogy, which will see a new movie released every week for three weeks, looks like it’ll encompass everything that makes Stine books so fun.
