GDC has announced plans to resume its physical conference events next year, beginning with GDC 2022, which will take place from March 21-25.
The conference is expected to take place at its usual physical location, the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. It will include, as in prior years, lectures, roundtables, and panels throughout the week.
This news comes as GDC kicks off its 2021 conference, this year held entirely digital due to ongoing efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s also held other GDC-branded digital events throughout 2021.
This marks yet another major games conference to announce its plans to return to physical events after the COVID-19 pandemic forced all gaming events to cancel, delay, or move to digital formats. Recently, PAX West announced its plans for a physical event in Seattle, coming this September. E3 has similarly announced its expectations to be a physical event in 2022.
